At the behest of Louis XIV, the first generation of Mariages entered the tea trade in the mid-17th-century. In 1854, after nearly 200 years of familial experience, brothers Henri and Edouard Mariage founded Mariage Frères.
Over the next 150 years, what first began as a wholesale teashop eventually became Paris’ most distinguished tea emporium, a wholly unique salon and museum that has since created a signature tea tradition now known as The French Art of Tea.
Lauded for their incomparable quality and masterfully nuanced blends, Mariage Frères has become synonymous with French tea culture and continues to compose what are often regarded as some of the best teas in the world.
